Most residential wells in our area are five inches in diameter and equipped with a 10 -12 gallon per minute submersible pump.  Most of the wells that we drill are sand and gravel wells, with a stainless steel well screen and PVC casing.  In some areas we must drill limestone wells because the gravel is not productive.  For limestone wells we drill with an air hammer and will usually use steel casing.
